CanWest promotes Manlove

TORONTO – Brett Manlove has been promoted to senior vice-president, broadcast sales and marketing for CanWest MediaWorks, the company announced today.

In this position, Manlove will oversee all sales and marketing activities for the broadcast division of the organization and will be based in Toronto.

"We originally approached Brett a year ago regarding this role, however, family commitments prevented him from accepting the position at that time so we began a nationwide search," said Joe Mangione, president of sales and marketing. "In the course of the past year, we have met with a number of interesting candidates, however, none with the level of expertise or passion that Brett brings to our business. I am very pleased that Brett has accepted this position and that we have been able to fill the role from within the company."

Manlove began his career in broadcast almost 20 years ago when he joined BCTV/CHEK as an account executive. Over the years, he held a variety of senior sales and marketing positions with the network, "demonstrating a great aptitude for building client relationships, driving revenue growth and building strong sales teams," says the press release.

CanWest purchased the WIC television assets in 2000 (of which BCTV/CHEK were a part of) and in 2001 Manlove was promoted to vice-president of local sales where he was responsible for all television sales originating from the company’s local stations.

"I feel fortunate to have spent the majority of my career in sales and marketing within the broadcast industry and am thrilled to take on this new role," he said. "Our company has terrific clients, a tremendous portfolio of products and a dedicated and committed sales organization that is focused on setting the standard for customer service. The advertising business has never been more dynamic and I look forward to facing the challenges and opportunities that this new role will provide."

He is currently president of the Broadcast Association of British Columbia, treasurer of the Television Bureau of Canada Board member of the Advertising Standards Council of Canada and Trustee of the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
