U.S. analog shut off made official

WASHINGTON – U.S. president George Bush signed the bill that will see over-the-air analog TV shut off for good in that country on February 17, 2009. The bill includes US$1.5 billion in subsidies to buy set top boxes for those consumers who can't afford the transition so that their analog TV sets will continue to work.
