TORONTO – XM Canada today picked up a Hall of Fame centre (Phil Esposito), winger (Mike Bossy) and defenseman (Denis Potvin) for Home Ice, its all-hockey satellite radio channel.
The channel will provide XM subscribers with hockey talk as well as live, play-by-play coverage of more than 1,000 National Hockey League games per season – more than 40 games per week.
Besides the three big names (all of whom have broadcasting experience) former NHL All-Star Bill Clement will also come on board as well as sports broadcasters Jim Tatti (Global TV Toronto), Todd Lewis (NHL Network/TSN), Scott Laughlin and Cameron Stewart.
1972 Summit Series’ Team Canada’s inspirational leader Esposito will co-host "In the Slot," a weekday afternoon hockey talk-show program on XM’s Home Ice channel (4 to 6 p.m.). In the Slot will feature Esposito and co-host Lewis delivering the goods on all aspects of the NHL and giving listeners a chance to call in and speak their minds, no matter where they are in North America.
The roles of the others mentioned here were not outlined in the release.
