MuchMusic launches first MuchStore

TORONTO – MuchMusic, the 20-year-old specialty TV sensation, is launching its first MuchStore on Dec. 8 near its historic downtown Toronto headquarters.

In typical Much style, it’s bringing in pop rockers Simple Plan for an exclusive charity autograph session to christen the store during its grand opening.

Simple Plan will make an hour-long appearance at the store at 277 Queen St. W., just steps from the CHUM HQ, starting at 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.

To get an autograph from the band, fans can make a small monetary donation, which will go to the 39th annual CHUMCity Christmas Wish (www.thewish.ca), a charitable foundation providing toys and financial assistance to those in need in the Greater Toronto Area. The MuchStore will also pitch in, donating a portion from each retail sale to the cause until Dec. 24.

The store will sell Much-branded clothing and CDs (from the original station as well as spinoffs MuchLOUD, MuchVibe, MuchMoreRetro, Razer, and PunchMuch), as well as fashions and cosmetics from celebrities Simple Plan, Kelly Osbourne, Jessica Simpson, Nelly, and blink-182.

"We’re thrilled to have talented trend-setters Simple Plan on board to help raise funds for those in need during the holiday season," said Maria Hale, Vice President Content Business Development, CHUM Television. "At the same time, it’s a great way for fans to check out the new MuchStore. It’s the perfect experience for anyone wanting to amp up their look with music and pop culture flare."
