Nesbitt made SUN TV ops GM

TORONTO – Formerly the first employee of Toronto 1, Mike Nesbitt has been promoted to the position of general manager of operations of its replacement, SUN TV,

A native of Toronto, Nesbitt (right) began his career in broadcasting at Citytv in the early 1980s holding a variety of technical positions – most notably a pioneering role in the inventive videographer technique used at the network as well as editorial and on-air stints.

He joined Craig Media in 1997 to help to launch the A-Channel television network in Western Canada and returned to Toronto playing a role in the launch of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment digital channels Leafs TV and Raptors NBA TV.

In 2001 he joined the pre-launch team of Toronto 1 as director of technical operations launching the conventional television station from its downtown Toronto headquarters in fall of 2003.

“Mike was the very first employee hired to work at this television station,” said Jim Nelles, vice-president and general manager of SUN TV. “His knowledge and broadcast experience have enriched all of us here at SUN TV over the last three years. I can think of no one better suited for this role which reflects the recent restructuring in operations and creative services.”
