QUEBEC CITY – The Société du Centre des congrès de Québec today announced a partnership with Vidéotron to install wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) access points inside the Québec City Convention Centre.
Users of laptop computers and PDAs equipped with a wireless card can now pick up their e-mail and browse the web in the Convention Centre’s exhibition hall, meeting rooms and public areas. An Internet cafe with six workstations has also been set up in the lounge. The Québec City Convention Centre thus becomes the first in Québec to offer wireless Internet access, says the release.
"Technological innovation is clearly a major competitive issue in the convention and conference industry," said Claude Pinault, president and CEO of the Société du Centre des congrès de Québec, at the inauguration of the Vidéotron Internet café. "We are therefore very proud to take the lead in this area and become the first convention centre in Québec with wireless Internet."
"This agreement is part of our drive to expand in the business market," said Jean Novak, president, business division of Vidéotron. "We are responding to the clearly expressed needs of business customers: increased mobility while maintaining connectivity in order to work effectively while on the go.”
i-Hotel is the partner responsible for the software solution and installation of the Wi-Fi access points.
