TORONTO – Bell Canada video customers will be able to pick apart the Bell Canadian Open this weekend.
Bell announced the launch of two exclusive on-demand sports services today, available to golf and football fans across Canada who subscribe to ExpressVu, and another available to football fans of another sort on Sympatico/MSN
For example, for Canadian Open – being held at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, B.C. from September 8 to 11 and being aired in HD – viewers will be offered a unique iTV service which gives them the control to experience all of the action at the touch of a button.
In collaboration with Bell Globemedia’s CTV and TSN, the free service will be available on channels 213 (CTV) and 400 (TSN) to all Bell ExpressVu customers with iTV-capable digital TV receivers.
Some highlights of the Bell Canadian Open multi-screen enhanced broadcast include:
* Five video feeds and an information ticker to browse with a remote
* On-demand access to Bell-sponsored swinger Mike Weir’s Tour Tips, as well as a course layout guide
* In-broadcast trivia questions answered with your remote
* Up-to-the-minute leaderboard standings and player statistics
And, starting this Sunday is NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive. Available to NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers, the service features ProGuide, an on-screen interactive service that delivers game updates, as well as on-demand capabilities to access live action from around the league.
For each concurrent NFL Sunday Ticket game, ProGuide offers dynamically updated on-screen information such as current scores and ball possession.
It also features “scoring alerts” and “red zone alerts” when a team is within 20 yards of the end zone. Viewers can tune to another NFL game within the ProGuide application by highlighting the game they want and either pressing (SELECT) or the two-digit channel number of the corresponding on-screen channel. When watching a game in full screen mode, red zone and scoring alerts will appear, allowing viewers to jump to this game with the press of a single button on the remote.
Bell ExpressVu customers with iTV-capable model 3100 receivers can access and/or subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive service on channel 450. This exclusive iTV service is also available as an add-on to the NFL Sunday Ticket package.
For “real” football fans, on-demand access to World Cup soccer qualifying matches is also now available free of charge to Bell Sympatico High Speed Internet customers. Soccer fans have the opportunity to enjoy live coverage of key matches including Holland vs. Andorra (today), Norway vs. Scotland (today), Scotland vs. Belarus (October 10) and Holland vs. Macedonia (October 12); all of which are stored online for 30 days following the live broadcast.
