Teletoon to develop seven new shows

TORONTO – Teletoon has announced agreements to develop seven new animated productions by Canadian producers.

Four of the shows will be series, and three are specials.

The series are Foolish Girl (CCI Entertainment), about the misadventures of a 17-year-old girl; Iggy Arbuckle Nature Freak (Blueprint Entertainment), about a pig and his beaver sidekick (aimed at 6- to 9-year-olds); Jimmy Two-Shoes (Breakthrough Entertainment), featuring an optimistic protagonist (aimed at kids 10-12); and Road Hogs (Cité-Amérique), an animated “road movie” featuring two teens.

The specials are The Ghost Fidller of Sable Island (Amberwood Production), about a girl who spends a summer with relatives on the island; Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins (Portfolio Entertainment), a holiday special about how Hershel outwits the goblins that try to prevent a village from celebrating Hanukkah; and Poussière d’étoile (Les Productions Vic Pelletier), a holiday special about twins who become miniaturized and try to reach the North Pole to find the antidote.

Since it launched in 1997, Teletoon has invested more than $120 million in Canadian content and commissioned nearly 5,000 half-hours of original productions.
