SAINT JOHN – Glen LeBlanc has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer for Aliant, effective immediately.
LeBlanc most recently served as Aliant’s vice- president of finance and controller, responsible for providing financial leadership and direction for all general accounting operations activities.
"Glen brings a proven track record of delivering results in the financial operations of our business," said Jay Forbes, Aliant’s CEO. "He possesses a rare blend of financial expertise, strong business and industry acumen, and the ability to motivate and engage people through an inspirational leadership style – all while staying focused on giving back to his community. We are very fortunate to have someone of his talent and character within our executive management team."
Since February of this year, Forbes has been acting CFO, in addition to his role as president and CEO of Aliant.
Since joining Aliant in 1993, LeBlanc has held a number of senior management positions. In 1999 he was manager of general accounting, responsible for overseeing the internal and external financial results for Aliant. Promoted in 2000 to the position of controller, he expanded his involvement in strategic decision-making and shareholder relations.
In 2004, he received UNICEF’s Champion for Children Award for outstanding community contribution. He has served as the chair for the Chefs for UNICEF committee for the past four years. He sits on the board of directors of Certified Management Accountants of Nova Scotia, the Greater Halifax Partnership and FEED NOVA SCOTIA. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee for CMA Management Magazine, and of Financial Executives International, a professional association for senior financial executives.
He is a native of Sydney, N.S. and lives in Halifax.
