CORNER BROOK, Nfld. – Connecting to the Internet will get speedier for Aliant customers in a couple of smaller communities in Newfoundland & Labrador.

The eastern telco announced today that its broadband service will be expanded to additional communities near Corner Brook – Steady Brook and Humber Village – by the end of this year.

"We are very pleased to introduce broadband service – Aliant High-Speed and Aliant High-Speed Ultra – to consumers and businesses in the area and we know they will benefit from the speed, security and reliability of our broadband network," says Vic Simmons, Aliant regional manager, in a press release. "Broadband services are available within a number of our value packages and allow customers to combine other services, like long distance and cellular, for great savings all on a single bill."

This year Aliant is investing more than $63 million in the broadband network throughout Atlantic Canada. Over the past few years, Aliant has invested more than $300 million bringing broadband to Atlantic Canadians, and by the end of the year, over 79% of homes and 84% of businesses in Atlantic Canada will have access to Aliant’s broadband services, according to the company.
