EastLink partners with Atlantic Film Fest

HALIFAX – EastLink announced today it will be official communications provider and offer exclusive event coverage as part of a sponsorship deal with the Atlantic Film Festival, September 15-24 in the Nova Scotia city.

EastLink will support the festival through its high speed Internet service, local telephone and cable services. It’s also a first in that the partnership will see EastLink Television – with the support of its employees and volunteers – provide exclusive programming and live coverage of the event. This will include interviews with major stars, directors and festival organizers; live coverage of red-carpet Galas, including the Kodak Awards Lunch; and EastLink All Access, a daily one-hour look behind the scenes that will air daily at 6:30 p.m. throughout the 10-day event.

Rogers Television has had a similar, long-standing and successful arrangement with the Toronto International Film Festival where the cable channel provides just about non-stop coverage of Hogtown’s early September film bash.

“We’re proud to be on board as the communications provider and partner for what has become one of Atlantic Canada’s premier cultural events,” said Dan McKeen, Co-CEO, EastLink. “We believe that EastLink Television’s coverage of the Atlantic Film Festival will enhance the profile and interest of the Atlantic Film Festival.”

"The Atlantic Film Festival Association is very excited about our new partnership with EastLink. The size and scope of this relationship will be key in helping the Association fulfill its strategic goals, helping us broaden our reach into the community, provide increased programming and ultimately become the signature event of the region,” added Gregor Ash, executive director of the Atlantic Film Festival Association

EastLink recently wrapped up a successful casting call seeking local talent to participate as on-air personalities for EastLink Television’s festival coverage. Additional details on presenters and programming will be made available on EastLink’s website over the coming weeks at www.eastlink.ca.
