VANCOUVER – Eight-year-old TV producer ATV Productions has been sold.
John Lovelace, president and CEO of the company, announced the sale today. Terms were not disclosed.
Its new owner is Krishnan Suthanthiran, who is probably best known for his recent purchase of the entire town of Kitsault in the Northern region of British Columbia.
"The sale of the company gives us access to the resources to make important improvements, while giving our producers the opportunity to concentrate on productions," said Lovelace in a release.
For his part, Suthanthiran understands that ATV, and its Vancouver operations will be able to offer full service multimedia work to complement his principal business in the pharmaceutical and medical supply fields.
Suthanthiran’s company, Best Medical International Inc., is headquartered in Springfield, Virginia, and also has operations in France and Canada.
"When John and I met last winter," said Suthanthiran, "we recognized there was a good synergy that would allow us both to move ATV forward in the years ahead. After all, television production is a global business."
Appreciating the success of ATV’s Wings Over Canada series, which showcases Canada and its natural beauty in over 135 thirty-minute episodes, Suthanthiran says he also sees a link between ATV and promoting Canada as a vacation destination.
ATV Productions Ltd. produces Wings Over Canada and four other television series for broadcasters in Canada, USA, Israel, and Europe. These programs include the Canadian Biography Moments for CBC Country Canada, Driver’s Seat – now entering its 12th season, Discovering Great Towns premiering this fall on CLT, Access TV, SCN and Public Broadcasting Stations in the USA and Engine Driven a high performance series seen on CLT.
