Welychka and Brotzel to anchor BT Edmonton

EDMONTON – The official switch from A-Channel to Citytv Edmonton doesn’t happen until Tuesday, but yesterday the channel announced that MuchMusic/MuchMoreMusic personality Bill Welychka and A-Channel’s weekend anchor Stacey Brotzel will share hosting duties when the new "BT-BreakfastTelevision" debuts that morning at 6 a.m.

Welychka has been an on-air fixture of CHUM Television’s MuchMusic/MuchMoreMusic for over 15 years and has more than 2,000 interviews under his belt as a music journalist/producer.

Brotzel is an Edmonton native, who joined the A-Channel newsroom when the station launched in 1997. She has also worked as a reporter at Winnipeg’s CKY Television and several other Western television operations. Brotzel has covered everything from the recent Mayerthorpe Mountie massacre to the World Masters Games.

News anchor Rob Hislop, weather and traffic reporter Wendy Sandwith and remote host Bridget Ryan will join Welychka and Brotzel.

BT-BreakfastTelevision is a fast-paced mix of news, entertainment and information. With a fresh look and new features in addition to detailed live traffic, live transit, precise weather, the latest business news, sports updates, energizing music and laughs.

"We’re thrilled that Bill and Stacey are joining our team as we introduce BT-Breakfast Television to the Edmonton audience," said Chris Duncan, Citytv news director. They bring an exciting and fresh mix of personality, experience and talent to the show."
