TORONTO – Following today’s CTF allotment announcement, The Movie Network and Movie Central reported that they have received financial support for all of their co-produced CTF funding applications in the English-language drama stream for returning series.
“The Movie Network has experienced tremendous success with our Canadian original drama series to date with programs such as ReGenesis and Slings & Arrows," said Michelle Marion, director, Canadian independent production at TMN in the press release. "We are thrilled to be able to build on the success of last year’s slate of original dramas with new seasons of these series. "
"Movie Central is delighted with today’s announcement. Our goal of providing Canadian dramatic series that meet and excel the expectations of our most discriminating Pay-TV viewer has been embraced. Only Pay-TV can present this type of original programming in its purest creative form, without commercial interruption. We’re thrilled that we can move forward with the CTF supporting all three of our shows" added Shelley Gillen, head of creative and business affairs, Movie Central.
Since neither company competes with the other (Movie Central enjoys a western Canadian monopoly while TMN has the east), the two pay-TV channels have often joined forces of late to create original programming that both can run.
The Movie Network and Movie Central projects that have received CTF funding, premiering on The Movie Network and Movie Central in the coming year include:
REGENESIS (Season 2
SLINGS & ARROWS (Season 3)
G-SPOT (Season 2)
