8.3 billion video streams


RESTON, Va. – New data from digital media measurement company Comscore says that 75% of American Internet users streamed video online in May and that the average streamer watched over two-and-a-half hours of it.

That month saw Americans view more than 8.3 billion video streams online with fully 20.5% of that, or 1.7 billion videos, seen at Google’s YouTube.com. Fox Interactive Media (the owners of MySpace) ranked second with 680 million streams (8.1%), followed by Yahoo! Sites with 387 million (4.6%) and Viacom Digital with 237 million (2.8%).

In total, nearly 132 million Americans viewed online streaming video in May, watching an average of over two videos per day and that average stream duration was 2.5 minutes.
