60 Minutes, 48 Hours moving from CHCH to Global

TORONTO — Global TV announced Monday its first pickups for the 2020-21 television season are the popular newsmagazines 60 Minutes and 48 Hours, which will be added to the network’s schedule this fall.

The two long-running programs are currently broadcast in Canada on Hamilton’s CHCH-TV network.

Global announced the pickups, which are good for its roster of simultaneous substitution programming one day before Corus Entertainment’s scheduled virtual upfront where Global’s new and returning series for 2020-21 will be unveiled.

“The addition of 60 Minutes following our award-winning local news and Global National will help solidify Global as the trusted destination for important news and investigative storytelling every Sunday,” said Troy Reeb, executive vice-president of broadcast networks at Corus Entertainment, in the news release. “Additionally, after helping to define the true crime genre worldwide, 48 Hours is the ideal companion on Saturdays to Global’s homegrown success story Crime Beat.”

60 Minutes and 48 Hours are produced by CBS News and distributed internationally by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.
