$4.46 million in UBF money to benefit rural Nova Scotians

OTTAWA — The federal government announced today $4.46 million in funding from its Universal Broadband Fund’s rapid response stream has been awarded to bring high-speed Internet to rural residents of Pictou County (pop. 44,000) in Nova Scotia. The funding is designated for phase one of Pictou County’s high-speed Internet project, which is expected to connect many underserved households, and the municipality is also contributing $3.32 million to the project.
