YELLOWKNIFE – Residents of Norman Wells and Fort Simpson can turn on their new Apple, Samsung or LG smartphones Christmas morning and get full service thanks to upgrades from Northwestel.

Northwestel is pleased to meet customer demand with the latest technology,” said Curtis Shaw, Vice President of Marketing at Northwestel. “In partnership with the Northern Stores, the latest handsets and smartphones with 3G capabilities will be available so residents can start enjoying the speed, reliability and call clarity of an HSPA network immediately.”
3G HSPA technology allows customers to fully utilize the capabilities and features of the most modern and popular wireless devices like mobile internet, video streaming and other data intensive applications.
Cellular coverage in Fort Simpson will also be improved with the addition of a new tower says Northwestel. The recent 3G wireless expansions are made possible by a continuing partnership between Northwestel and Falcon Communications Ltd, and are expected to be complete prior to the holiday season.
