3D TV session added to Banff lineup

BANFF – What does 3D, Internet connected televisions and physical computing mean for the future of entertainment?  A session at the Banff World Television Festival, which opens this weekend, will try to answer that question.

Geneva Film’s founder James Stewart will host ‘The Future of Television – 3D’ and provide a rounded view of the 3D ecosystem and business models emerging for the industry, from storytelling to new S3D Platforms, mobile to theatres. With broadcasters in Canada and worldwide launching 3D channels, delegates will find out why 3D matters, how it is produced and what it will cost.

3D is having an equally profound impact on our living rooms and 3D gaming, Internet connected televisions, and physical computing could dramatically change how content has been traditionally digested in this temple of entertainment.  Lori Schwartz, SVP and director of the Interpublic Emerging Media Lab, will speak on the living room of the future, address topics such as how consumers will be interacting with next generation entertainment properties, what role social media plays in this experience and whether entertainment will be driven by on-demand anytime experience or channel surfing.

“We are delighted to have James and Lori at Banff to share their 3D expertise,” said the Festival’s executive director, Peter Vamos, in the press release. “3D’s time has come – it’s already revolutionizing the box office and the advertising industry through major brands like Sprint, Mazda and Vodafone, and the next step is to bring it into our living rooms through TV and digital media.”

The 31st annual Banff World Television Festival takes place June 13-16, 2010 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, AB.  And Cartt.ca will be there too.
