New dates for Canada’s Rural and Remote Conferences 2020; organizers working on virtual gathering, too

NORTH BAY – Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, organizers of Canada’s Rural & Remote Conferences 2020 confirmed they have rescheduled the conferences originally planned for May. They will now take place in November 2020.

The dates and locations for the three CRRBC conferences scheduled for this year are as follows:

  • CRRBC Central (Deerhurst Resort Muskoka, Huntsville, Ontario, pictured): unchanged October 5-7, 2020
  • CRRBC West (location TBA): November 8-10, 2020
  • CRRBC East (Fredericton Convention Centre, Fredericton, New Brunswick): November 15-17, 2020

Once the new CRRBC West site location is finalized, details will be posted to the CRRBC website and provided via a media update.

“Additionally, my team and I are working on a virtual conference for May to address some of the topics that were part of the original agendas,” said conference director Amedeo Bernardi, in an email. “The irony is not lost on me that we are planning a virtual conference themed ‘bridging the digital divide’ that is trying to help communities with little to no reliable broadband. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that there is a critical need to engage as best as possible, since this very pandemic has underscored how broadband is truly an essential service — for all.”
