
CBC/Radio-Canada announced Monday its coverage of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 reached 30.5 million viewers in Canada across its English and French television networks and broadcast partners TSN, Sportsnet and RDS, according to Numeris data cited by CBC.
In addition, audiences consumed more than 89 million streams of Milano Cortina 2026 content on CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital platforms, including CBC Gem, ICI TOU.TV, the CBC News app, the Radio-Canada Info app, and the CBC and Radio-Canada websites dedicated to the Olympic Winter Games, CBC said in a press release, adding this is more than triple compared to Beijing 2022 (29 million streams). More than 42 million hours of Milano Cortina 2026 content were watched on CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital and streaming platforms, CBC said, citing Adobe Analytics as its digital data source.
Throughout the Games from Feb. 6 to 22, CBC ranked as the most-watched English-language network in Canada, among both 2+ and 25-54 audiences, with the exception of Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 8, CBC said. The average daily audience share for the duration of the Games on CBC TV was 25 per cent, an 11-point increase compared to Beijing 2022, CBC added.
The most-watched moment of Milano Cortina 2026 was the overtime goal by Team U.S.A. hockey player Jack Hughes in the men’s gold medal hockey game against Team Canada on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 10:52 a.m. ET, which was watched by 8.7 million viewers on CBC, Sportsnet and TSN.
The second most-watched Milano Cortina moment was the final minute of the men’s semifinal hockey game between Canada and Finland on Feb. 20 at 1:11 p.m. ET, watched by 5.1 million viewers on CBC, Sportsnet and TSN.
Other high viewership moments included Canada’s final goal in overtime against Czechia to win the men’s hockey quarterfinal (4.4 million viewers on Feb. 18 at 1:12 p.m. ET on CBC, Sportsnet and TSN) and the final minutes of the women’s gold medal hockey game between Canada and the U.S.A. (4.22 million viewers on Feb. 19 at 3:52 p.m. ET on CBC, TSN and Sportsnet).
CBC/Radio-Canada is the official Canadian broadcaster of the Olympic Games through 2032, including the Olympic Summer Games Los Angeles 2028. The Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 begin on Friday, March 6 and run through Sunday, March 15. CBC/Radio-Canada is Canada’s Paralympic network and will provide more than 120 hours of original television coverage and more than 800 hours of additional live coverage across its digital platforms.
