OTTAWA – Michaelle Jean’s stylist will earn his or her money tomorrow as CTV today unveiled plans for 20 high definition cameras to cover the installation of Canada’s 27th Governor General.
For the first time ever a Canadian broadcaster will (some might say, finally) produce and deliver a news special in HD. As announced last week, CTV News Special: Canada’s 27th Governor General will air Tuesday, September 27 beginning at 10:25 a.m. ET on CTV and in HD on CTV HD East and CTV HD West. The special will also be carried live on CTV Newsnet.
The broadcaster will employ two HD mobile production trucks and a total of 20 camera positions including one from the CTV News helicopter so that producers can track Madame Jean as she moves from Rideau Gate to the House of Commons.
Chief news anchor and senior news editor, Lloyd Robertson, will anchor the event live from the Senate Foyer. He will be joined by chief political correspondent Craig Oliver for analysis. Reporter Rosemary Thompson will provide the reaction from spectators outside the House of Commons and invited guests inside the Senate Foyer. Among the list of expected interviewees are David Mitchell, a historian from the University of Ottawa and several of Madame Jean’s friends.
