REGINA – SaskTel has alerted customers to a billing error that resulted from a recent systems upgrade that affected approximately 9,000 wireless customers in the November 23rd and 29th billing periods.
Affected customers will receive a bill that may incorrectly rate their Saskatchewan data at U.S. data rates. The charges may range from a few cents to $100,000. SaskTel is currently working on automatically issuing credits to those customer's accounts with incorrect data charges.
The customers impacted will be notified by SMS (text message) and by phone. As well, they will receive a letter from SaskTel within the next week. If a customer does not receive a phone call or letter from SaskTel, they are not impacted by this error and their bill is correct.
SaskTel will be asking those customers that are impacted to not pay their November bill. The appropriate credit will be applied on their December bill and there will be no late payment charges. SaskTel is also ensuring that withdrawals from bank accounts do not occur for customers on SaskTel’s pre-authorized payment plan that are impacted by this error. The accurate charges for their November bill will be included in the withdrawal for their December bill.
