10-digit dialling begins in northern Ontario

OTTAWA – Local 10-digit dialing arrived in northern Ontario’s 705 area code region over the weekend.The move paves the way for the arrival of the new area code 249 beginning on March 19th as the 705 area code reaches capacity. This new area code will coexist with the current 705 area code covering the same geographic area, and will only be assigned to customers for additional services on an as-needed basis.www.dial10.ca
