TORONTO – Bell Media’s pay TV services The Movie Network (TMN) and TMN Encore are now available nationally for the first time.
The move means that TMN, formerly available only in Eastern Canada, has increased its customer base to approximately two million subscribers across the country, according to Bell. Pay TV brands Movie Central and Encore Avenue were wound down after Bell agreed to pay Corus Entertainment $211 million to gain national access to the pay-TV market.
Comprising four, 24-hour, high definition multiplex channels, TMN offers movies, exclusive programming from HBO and Showtime, and Canadian feature films, documentaries, comedy specials, and series. Subscribers also have the option to add TMN Encore, two 24-hour, high definition channels with classic films from every era.
In addition, subscribers may access TMN and TMN Encore content via SVoD service TMN OnDemand, available through their television service provider’s set top box, plus TMN Go, a video streaming service available on tablets, smartphones, computers, smart TVs, and gaming consoles.
“TMN subscribers have it all – the best premium movies, series, and specials all in one place – and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this incredible service to all Canadians,” said Bell Media’s SVP specialty and pay Tracey Pearce, in the news release. “With multiple channels and access to all content on demand and on TMN GO, The Movie Network provides an unparalleled value proposition, unavailable anywhere else in Canada.”
The Movie Network’s national launch is being supported with a multi-phase, integrated marketing campaign targeted to all Canadians with touch-points on-air, digital, social, OOH, print, and radio, continues the release.
