The VAS Operations Engineer is responsible for operational activities related to the Value Added Services (VAS) nodes, e.g. Messaging system (SMSC/MMSC), Voicemail system, Mobile Location Center, Over-The-Air Platform (OTA), Online/Offline charging, Secure Entitlement Server, Wireless Public Alert System (WPAS), etc., in order to offer best possible user experience by ensuring high quality and availability of VAS network and services

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll ensure high quality and timely VAS Operations deliverables, e.g. high quality and availability of VAS Services and VAS nodes (performance KPIs); high quality and reliable operations and support; performing SW upgrades and updates, loading and testing of corrections, preventive maintenance, feature implementations etc. in Production network; operational and customer issues support, etc.
You will research, develop, write, validate/verify, and share Installation Methods, Methods of Procedures and Change Application Procedures that support product/solution installation readiness within schedule and budget.
You’ll perform periodic network audits and inconsistency cleanups to maintain the health of the network as it evolves.
You will participate in regular vulnerability scans and respective corrective and preventive actions
You’ll follow the relevant processes and propose/implement possible improvements to the processes and procedures.
You will stay abreast of relevant VAS, LTE, IMS/VoLTE and 5G technology, as well as upcoming industry and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
University degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
Experience within your post-secondary education focusing on projects specifically related to communications protocols, databases, information security, and VAS systems.
An understanding of Linux systems, with some development, coding and scripting abilities is an asset; including Shell, Python, etc.
Knowledge of IP related translations; understanding of SIP, Diameter, and HTTPs protocols is an advantage.
An understanding of Mobile Core, IMS, and /or VAS network architecture, as well as Mobile traffic and Call Flow, is preferred.
An understanding of product and service security and privacy requirements and possible risks/exposure. Experience and participation in related activities, vulnerability scans, security fixes and patches would be an asset.
Ability to see the “big picture” and effectively handle all required details throughout an operational environment lifecycle.

Ability to work while under pressure while faced multiple deadlines and deliver several projects simultaneously.
Good communication (spoken and written) and negotiation skills.
Ability to work on-call as required in order to provide technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
