Why work at CBC/Radio-Canada?

When you come to CBC/Radio-Canada, you’re not only joining the undisputed leader in expressing Canadian culture – you’re also participating in its digital revolution. Here, you’ll actively contribute to creating innovative projects on our major platforms and will find a stimulating, state-of-the-art and team-focused work environment.

Digital is a key part of our present and our future. CBC/Radio-Canada’s strategy is focused on becoming the first organization to provide a digital platform that delivers unique content and experiences for our audiences, by telling stories that reflect who they are. If you’re passionate about the user experience, love technology, and are driven to bring out the best in others, you’ll enjoy working at CBC/Radio-Canada.

Please note that this is a temporary position (1 year).

Does submitting your resumé on this platform make you want to close the page as quickly as possible, because it’s that ugly? Don’t leave. An exciting project awaits you — one that has nothing to do with any of this. This is just a prerequisite to applying for the job of your dreams. You can bet on it!
Do you enjoy making things look good and work well? Do you have a laser focus on interactions and animations? Are you able to combine your creativity and editorial sensibility to great effect? Do you love working on innovative, experimental projects? We’re looking for a UI Designer to support a team of experts in creating a groundbreaking digital news experience. You will work with strategists, UX designers, UX researchers, motion designers, copywriters, developers and journalists through all design phases of this major project.
You will play an active role in evolving the Radio-Canada.ca news platform, with the goal of engaging digital citizens differently in a rapidly changing media landscape.

Your responsibilities:
Attend team ideation and creative sessions. Act as a guide and advisor to recommend proposals that factor in the analysis, needs and issues.
Working with the UX designer and UX researcher, analyze the nature of projects to identify needs and objectives, allowing you to get an overview of potential issues (content, technology, etc.).
Assess desired functions and behaviours so as to optimize the user experience on both mobile and desktop.
Design interfaces, animations, continuity and interactions. Determine and direct the style guide (style sheets, colour charts, typography, visual signatures, layout, data visualizations) in order to convey news content effectively and consistently for a given digital product.
Direct the various presentation stages using comprehensive mock-ups supported by constructive arguments. Be able to produce feasibility and effort estimates.
Work on implementing all testing and experimentation phases (prototyping, A/B tests, etc.). Adjust your proposals based on results obtained.
Be flexible and adaptable in finding solutions and resolving issues that arise.
Supervise and control graphic and ergonomic quality at all phases prior to go-live, as well as during the project’s active life.
Systematically conduct research and business intelligence to identify new web trends and market best practices.

You will bring the following skills to the team:
