We are constantly looking for ways to automate tasks and streamline our workflow with the tools we use. The Wireless Automation and Software Engineering (WASE) team builds in-house custom tools to help our engineering and operations teams perform their roles more effectively. The tools we build are heavily used by our internal customers in their daily operations and have a direct impact on the quality of Bell’s wireless network.

We’re looking for a Software Architect who will be able to drive the team software development roadmap. Someone who can collaborate with multiple teams to gather the requirements necessary to assess the development backlog priority. An individual who likes keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry best practices.
As a Software Architect you will:
Create software solutions which satisfy the business requirements, while considering any budgetary and time constraints
Own the team technology roadmap and align it with the overall the business direction
Work with key stakeholders to assess the backlog priority and feed their input into the applications roadmap
Breakdown the business requirements into technical requirements and relay that to the development team
Assess and evaluate new project ideas for development feasibility and business value
Recognize design implications on enterprise-wide tools, people, process, technology and day 2 costs

Desired Personal Qualities:
5+ years of software engineering and development experience with a university degree in software/computer engineering, computer science or equivalent
Knowledge of high-level business needs and ability to break it down to the technical level
Strong leadership capability to actively mentor and grow developers on the team
Great team player able to work well with others and speak to ideas effectively
Independent, self-starter, willing to take the respongsibility of driving software architecture and engineering best practices in the team
Can slice and dice a business/system problem into an easy modular and maintainable solution with your team
Can design and deliver E2E software solutions
Enjoys learning and experimenting with new technology
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Hands-on software development experience with one or multiple of the following languages: Java, .Net Core C#
Solid software development experience & architecture background (develop using design patterns, setting up microservices infrastructure)
Good understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
Knowledge of modern frameworks Elastic, Kafka etc.
Experienced working in Agile, Scrum or Kanban team formats
Experienced with setting up containerized environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
Well versed in source code management practices: Git, Branching, Pull/Merge Requests
Nice to Have Qualifications:
Android mobile application development experience
Systems administration knowledge – Linux CLI
Python, Spring, Springboot
Node.js, Vue.js, Angular.js, Bootstrap, React
Setting up a CI/CD Pipeline
Hands-on DevOps experience (e.g. GitLab, Octopus Deploy)
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
