Reporting to the Senior Content Manager for French Services in Manitoba, you are responsible for assigning and coordinating the daily work of teams in the field as well as other station employees.
In addition to determining the day’s editorial priorities, you must ensure that the teams in question have the resources they need to produce audio, visual and print items to fill slots in all our lineups – online, radio and newscasts.
You must be able to make immediate decisions in complex, stressful situations. You must direct staff on the use of programming/production techniques and procedures in a cross-platform environment.
Assisted by the Senior Content Producer, you will have wide latitude to manage newsgathering and field reporting operations.
Work must adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices, and you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs.
There is a regular and ongoing requirement for you to plan, direct and coordinate the work of others.
You are accountable for the budget related to program preparation, production and post-production. You will also be actively involved in training and developing new journalists.
Assign, research, gather, write and edit for all Radio-Canada platforms.
Ensure all station resources are allocated against strategic priorities. Support team development and ongoing staff feedback.
Perform all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
University degree or equivalent.
Seven (7) years’ experience, including three in broadcasting or a related field, directly relevant to the assignment.
Superior writing, editorial and production skills an asset.
Solid journalistic background.
Ability to choose relevant, audience-focused stories that reflect issues being discussed by the general public.
Ability to quickly react and respond to breaking stories.
Interest in and knowledge of events and issues important to Manitobans, with a focus on francophone affairs.
Superior French language skills.
Good knowledge of English.
Strong team leadership skills with the ability to inspire others.
Interest in cross-platform media production.
Demonstrated skills in the area of conflict resolution, mentoring, talent recognition and development.
Ability to innovate and take risks.
A commitment to reflecting community and diversity.
