The Cable Public Affairs Channel, CPAC, Canada’s only privately-owned, national, bilingual, not-for-profit public affairs television network is seeking an experienced journalist to join our editorial team. This fluently bilingual individual has an extensive background in producing compelling public affairs programming across all media platforms. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who is able to clearly and succinctly convey the key production elements to the editorial, social media and technical teams in order to produce outstanding and innovative programming.


  • Oversee development of CPAC’s original programming in both official languages;
  • Work with the Executive Producer and Co-ordinating Producer to establish and communicate the editorial direction of upcoming events to all departments;
  • Ensure the implementation of a multiplatform content strategy for all CPAC programming;
  • Mentor all production groups (ENG camera, editing, reporters, producers, studio crew) on storytelling and storyboarding with a view to ensuring the highest level of production value;
  • Monitor adherence to journalistic, production and technical standards;
  • Represent CPAC’s editorial interests at pool meetings along with resources team;
  • Oversee the execution of large-scale events in production control room and acts as an editorial liaison between the Executive Producer and production staff;
  • Work with the Executive Producer to conduct program reviews.


  • University or college degree in journalism, telecommunications, radio/television production, or equivalent experience;
  • Ten years’ experience in television production;
  •  Minimum five years’ experience in a supervisory position;
  • May be required to work occasional evenings and weekends;
  •  Bilingual, English and French;
  • Has exemplary editorial judgement;
  • Is able to provide coaching, training and mentorship to producers and technical crews;
  • Able to work exacting standards, including critical deadlines under high stress and tight deadlines;
  • Identifies, designs and contributes to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve corporate processes and systems;
  • Exceptional communicator, both verbally and written.
