Senior Data Engineer – C360 Insights Team (Toronto) – Telus

The C360 Insights Team is part of the Campaign Management & Data Science group that supports one to one Marketing Campaigns for TELUS’ Mobility Customers. Our team is responsible for providing advanced analytics solutions to inform marketing campaigns that help deliver best in class customer experiences and business results for the organization. We develop machine learning and AI solutions leveraging the latest technology and Big Data assets that TELUS maintains.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

As a Data Engineer, reporting to the Manager C360 Insights Team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling AI solutions for TELUS by acting as the conduit between our Data Scientists and the IT Data Developers. As we evolve our Next Best Action, Customer Journey analytics solutions and transition to Cloud platforms, your role will be key to set the data foundations for these solutions.

You will work with a talented team of Data Scientists and Data professionals to build and manage data assets that are foundational to our analytics capabilities.

Here’s how
Contribute to the development of Next Best Action and Customer Journey Analytics by engineering data assets that enable near real-time predictive models and trigger based strategies leveraging SPARK, Python, SQL, etc.
Act as the bridge between IT Data Engineers/Developers and Marketing Data Scientists to translate raw data tables into actionable views that can be leveraged for machine learning applications.
Support the transition of TELUS’ data assets and analytics machine learning solutions to Google Cloud Platform ensuring data security and privacy compliance
Implement automation and monitoring tools for efficient processes
Enable data ingestion and processing in innovative ways to improve our decision-making, speed and accuracy
Work collaboratively with business partners teams to understand, compartmentalize complex and ambiguous business issues into crisp and manageable pieces
As required, present customer insights to cross functional business partners including Marketing, Channel, Products & Services, Customer Experience and Digital.
Maintain a solid and updated knowledge in the data engineering and cloud technologies domain

Must haves
Technical Expertise
Knowledge in various advanced data mining techniques to ensure effective solutions to marketing issues
Extensive Hands-on experience in SAS, SPARK, Python, SQL and other data query language on UNIX / PC and comfortable working with very large data sets and databases
Working experience with Google Cloud Platform
Strong Quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
4+ years of progressive and relevant work experience
Business Orientation
Good business acumen, relationship management and influencing without authority skills;
Ability to provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis
Strong Ability to prioritize tasks from multiple stakeholders and meet deadlines with quality deliverables
Strong written, oral, communications, presentation skills and knowledge of Microsoft office/Google suite
Graduate degree in Computer Science Engg/ Programming
Post graduate education in Data Engineering, Cloud Dev/Ops or Advanced Analytics
Machine learning and data science knowledge
Telecom industry experience
