Description

What it’s like working at CBC/Radio-Canada

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

Your role:

You have fresh ideas and technical expertise to create the quality programming Canadians have come to expect from us. As an outside-the-box thinker, you are someone who is always ready to explore new ways of creating content that is as distinctive, intelligent and innovative as the people we look to hire.

As a Reporter/Editor, your primary objective is to perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for radio, television and  on-line media in both English and Inuktitut.  This will require you to develop and maintain contact with a variety of sources as well as work in close co-operation with your program unit.  You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and reporting information from various sources, conducting an analysis of facts and information gathered, drawing conclusions or raising issues requiring further investigation, and contributing ideas, written scripts, and program content. You will also, as required, critically edit material written by others, present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats, and perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit or station.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • A high level of fluency in Inuktitut and good skills in English.
  • A high school education or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience.
  • An aptitude for working with computers and technical equipment.
  • A personality and presentation suited to journalistic work.
  • A strong interest and potential to develop skills to analyze information, organize it and present it clearly.
  • An ability to work quickly under pressure to meet deadline.
  • A demonstrated interest in the social, political and cultural life of Nunavut, the North and Canada.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

If this sounds interesting, please apply online! We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
