Professor - Radio

Conestoga College’s School of Media + Design requires a qualified individual to teach in the Broadcast Radio program beginning January 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, update and deliver a variety of courses

  • Define/evaluate/validate program and course learning outcomes

  • Ensure program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices in the field by participating in community organizations and professional associations and other scholarly activities

  • Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement

  • Create and maintain a positive, professional learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds and learning styles

  • Support the day-to-day operations of CJIQ 88.3FM and Q2

  • Bring diverse knowledge to teach across multiple courses in the Broadcast Radio program and other programs, as needed

  • Participate in program team, school and college-wide activities/task groups as required

  • Develop alternative delivery strategies, online course development and teaching, as required

  • Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the school and across the college

  • Develop industry partnerships and collaborate with industry partners

  • Fulfil responsibilities as defined in the Academic Employees Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Broadcast Radio or a related field required; Bachelor degree preferred

  • Minimum of five years of experience in radio broadcasting; management and producer experience is required

  • Three years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferred

  • Diverse knowledge of radio operations including the production pipeline, sales and promotions, media planning, programming strategies, and current technologies

  • Strong skills in media interactivity including webcasting, blogging, and social media

  • Advanced knowledge of: Imediatouch Automation Suite, Music Master scheduling, Natural Log Traffic system, Adobe Audition, Vox Pro audio edit system, Burli Newsroom system, remote broadcast production and recording (Zoom, Phone App).

  • Experience in curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning and assessment methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies

  • Excellent communication and human relation skills; a commitment to diversity and equity

  • Strong administrative, analytical and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook

  • Knowledge of learning management systems (such as D2L)

  • Committed to working within a team environment and participating in a consultative decision-making process
