About the Role:
Global BC is looking for a temporary part-time Producer to join the #1 newsroom in Western Canada. This position will report to the Executive Producer – Crime Beat. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing and producing segments for Crime Beat on Global TV. This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.


As a Producer, the following is an outline of some but not all of the primary functions and responsibilities for this position:

Researching, chasing, and delivering content for Crime Beat TV;
Writing and vetting compelling, accurate scripts for an hour long true crime investigative series;
Booking interview subjects;
Transcribing interview content;
Developing creative ways to deliver engaging and unique episodes for Crime Beat TV;
Assignment of stories, cameras, live resources and reporters;
Liaising with the Crime Beat and Global BC News staff for scheduling crews to film segments;
Writing and producing related online stories and video;
Maintaining Global News’ high production standards;
Position is part time and hours will be determined by the Executive Producer – Crime Beat;
Other duties as required.

What We Need From You:

Post-Secondary Degree, diploma or equivalent experience in television broadcasting;
Minimum of 5 years TV news production experience;
Working knowledge of all newsroom production software;
Working knowledge of desktop editing, using Stratus/Edius;
Must have proven strong editorial news judgment, with solid investigative research abilities;
Proven ability to access and interpret property searches, title searches, court records and civil filings for all jurisdictions;
Proven ability to write and execute Freedom of Information requests for all levels of government;
Strong news writing skills;
Proven ability to multitask, working quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines;
Familiarity with online content production, writing for the web, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites;
Must have excellent people skills with the ability to work independently, effectively, and cooperatively in a team environment;
Strong and proven leadership skills a must.
