Principal Wireless Access Planner – Service Expansion
Rogers is investing in our service expansion plans and will be growing our Network team to support a number of initiatives to extend our wireless network reach to more costumers and businesses nationally.
This position, reporting to the Manager, Wireless Access Network Expansion, will provide technical experience in coverage and capacity planning against Service Expansion Plans for rural and underserved communities as well as in and out of footprint greenfield projects.
Own E2E (end to end) Service expansion projects to support network evolution and to meet growing subscriber demand.
Act as a lead and develop and analyze alternatives to recommend the most economical solution to meet departmental and organizational objectives regarding network service expansion, subscriber growth and usage patterns.
Technical review of existing and forecasted network performance which includes gathering input from network statistics, RF Engineering, Network Operations as well as Marketing. Work with Regional RF Engineering and Performance teams to apply the appropriate actions to address any network capacity requirement and quality issues in a timely manner.
Act as Network Lead and work closely with business teams to develop multiyear Service expansion plan for FWA.
Provide direction and guidance to Wireless Access Planners and RF Engineers.
Recommend course of action to management to resolve capacity and technical issue within the access network. Provide comparison of costs and/or impact of these recommendations versus other options.
Collaborate with Business teams, Regional Planning, Network Implementation and Engineering teams to communicate priorities, support, and guidance for Rogers RFP teams to ensure timely delivery of planned programs and RFP submissions.
Conduct studies for special projects
Highly effective leader & strong communicator with expert understanding of the LTE and 5G RAN (Radio Access Network) capacity and optimization process
Highly adaptive and flexible to changing environments and priorities. Ability to see full picture in order to deliver on objectives.
Strong understanding of designing & building, Capacity dimensioning and monitoring of Wireless Access Networks and systems including experience with roles and functions of all access network elements. Expert on industry standards, LTE, 5G, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), Wireless Private Networks (WPN), and knowledge of FTTH and fiber expansion.
Strong financial acumen, understanding of project budgets and cost analysis
Education experience should include a post-secondary education, Bachelor of Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering preferably.
Strong aptitude for research, data analysis and trend development
Expert knowledge of MapInfo, Power BI and other mapping and analytics tools
Professional designation with 7 years of work experience in a wireless environment
Ability to operate autonomously, within general direction guidelines.
