We are looking for a Producer to join our team, working to support all platforms – Digital/social, radio and television.
This position will require flexibility with scheduling, but will work primarily from 11:30-20:15 Monday to Friday.
We are seeking a leader and consummate team player with superb journalistic skills. You will ensure we are effectively and efficiently covering the stories and issues affecting the communities of Prince Edward Island. You will be part of a team working to bring the stories of PEI to all Canadians.
You will be responsible for proposing original story ideas, chasing breaking news, developing content, interviewing guests, doing research, preparing and vetting copy. Ideally the candidate will have experience in building a television line-up and producing television programming. You are expected to make independent editorial decisions. There is considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Keen interest in telling the stories that are important to the diverse and culture rich communities of Prince Edward Island.
Leadership experience and the ability to inspire others.
Superior writing, editorial and production skills. Skills in cross-platform media production.
Solid journalistic background.
Ability to choose relevant, audience focused stories, which reflect issues being discussed by the general public.
Quick to react and respond to breaking stories.
Interest and knowledge of events and issues in the community.
Innovator and risk taker.
Commitment to reflecting community and diversity.
Demonstrated social media skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of Prince Edward Island.
University degree or equivalent with five year of experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting.
Must possess a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company, other classes considered an asset.
