Media/Broadcast Buyer

Division: In-House Media Agency
Work Status: 1 year contract
Location: Toronto, Corus Quay

About the Role

The Media/Broadcast Buyer is responsible for the execution of all planned TV media according to objectives & timelines. The Media/Broadcast Buyer works closely with the planning team and all broadcast sales teams to provide up-to-date reports, status’ and expertise, with the support of a coordinator. In-depth knowledge of the TV marketplace is key in order to provide recommendations to support strategic planning. The Media/Broadcast Buyer will provide detailed buying and reporting for advertising campaigns in television.

Responsibilities

Oversee, track and execute against Shaw-Corus Cash/Contra agreement
Work with planning teams to provide knowledgeable guidance on broadcast buying strategies including reach, frequency, and GRP goals
Use media industry research tools (Infosys, Vividata, etc.) in support of decision-making
Calculate Third Party CPPs and request Corus CPPs seasonally for distribution to the planning team
Must be able to create and maintain complex excel worksheets without the support of DDS and Adtraq buying tools
Actively communicate with all broadcast sales teams on upcoming campaigns, requesting avails, reviewing proposals, negotiating, booking and managing shifts/cancellations
Participate in developing new TV opportunities, integrations, etc. using Corus assets in support of Shaw & Freedom brands
Knowledge on the VOD and U.S. Cable Network landscape considered an asset
Work with Sales and Traffic to ensure creative instructions are tracked and delivered on time
Actively communicate with Creative and Marketing teams on creative deadlines
Reporting:
Report on campaign goals (reach, frequency, GRP) and delivery against identified target markets
Create and assist in the maintenance of the Corus commitment agreement, tracking each campaign and element from a cost perspective.

About You

What We Need From You

5+ years of TV planning/buying experience
Strong math and analytical skills
Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong organizational and project management skills to keep multiple projects on-track and executing to deadlines
Strong communication skills. Able to express yourself clearly and concisely in oral communications. Able to write in a clear, compelling, and concise manner.
People management skills. Able to train and supervise junior TV buying staff and educate colleagues on TV planning/buying strategy and process.
Inquisitive and participates in vendor meetings
Proactive with problem solving and in anticipating client/team needs
“Can-do” attitude and proven ability to work in a team environment
Proficiency in Infosys, NLogic, TV/BBM, and other media related tools
University degree or college diploma in Advertising/Radio/TV/Film/Marketing or equivalent work experience
