Manager – Planning & Engineering – Telus

The Quebec West Outside Plant Engineering team is responsible for the realization of TELUS’ wireline networks required to support our customer’s technical and business requirements. These networks are paramount for TELUS and our customers. They are the foundation, which allows us to deliver new evolved services, increased bandwidth and improved reliability, setting us apart from our competitors.

You will lead a team of engineers and design specialists responsible for the delivery of TELUS’ fiber networks. Your leadership and determination will allow you to stimulate creativity and ingenuity required to deliver our high end, reliable networks. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to use your extensive professional network to support your team in exceeding its ambitious goals.

Here’s how
Lead the team members (directly and indirectly) and promote professional development and high engagement through recognition and establishment of individual and team objectives
Develop resource plans based on changing technological and operational needs
Demonstrate leadership and ensure that the implementation of new technologies, services and network infrastructures meet or exceed the objectives for timelines and budget, while minimizing any negative impact or risk to customers
Support the team in the national process and systems alignment strategy
Be accountable and responsible for the execution of the team’s investment and operating budgets and work to improve the operational efficiency and unit costs through continuous process improvement
Act as TELUS representative and establish a network of contacts with external stakeholders influencing infrastructure deployment plans (public and parapublic organizations, municipalities, owners of telecommunications infrastructure, etc.)
Support the team in setting up TELUS standards in technology and infrastructure
Manage business relationships with various external TELUS partners
Qualifications

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
Recognized for your technical expertise in networks and technologies including engineering systems (SAP, SpatialNet, MyWorld, GMA, …) and knowledge of the regulation of telecommunications infrastructures.
Sought out for your exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to work with senior leadership, internal and external organizations.
Regarded for your strong ability to assign and delegate tasks.
Expert at coaching and mentoring.
With a deep insight of business, finance, budgets and projects.
With a knack for developing and maintaining successful internal and external relationships, and your excellent negotiation skills.
Valued for your oral and written communication skills (in French and English) and your excellent presentation skills allowing you to influence at various hierarchical levels of management.
Distinguished for more than 10 years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, planning and design of telecommunications networks.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, MBA or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Great-to-haves
P. Eng., PMP or other relevant certifications
