We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and highly organized leader to manage our CBC Gem Merchandising team.
This role helps our audiences discover the wealth of on-demand and live programming available on CBC Gem. As Manager, the successful candidate will lead the team responsible for merchandising the CBC Gem platform (including the posting of feature images and thumbnails, descriptions, titles, metadata and rights information).
The Manager, CBC Gem Merchandising will also work collaboratively with many teams across the corporation including Content units in Entertainment, Factual & Sports and News & Local, Communications, Media Presentation, Business & Rights and Regulatory Affairs.
Manage a small team responsible for the daily content merchandising of CBC Gem.
Work closely with multiple teams across the corporation to ensure the timely delivery, receipt and posting of multimedia assets.
Owns or shares responsibility for updating several key CBC Gem tracking and scheduling documents.
Manages and verifies adherence to our content windowing rights and accessibility.
In collaboration with Research, provide strategic insights and recommendations for how to improve our merchandising activities.
In conjunction with the Senior Director, ensure the mission, goals and strategic objectives for CBC Gem are being upheld in our day-to-day operations.
Assist the Senior Director with strategic projects and initiatives.
Collaborate with our Media Solutions team on sales and sponsorship initiatives.
Contribute to our ambitious engagement and growth goals targets without compromising creative integrity or the highest quality experience for our audiences.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
A team player who thrives in a highly collaborative environment; strong people skills.
Solid understanding of content merchandising principles and best practices.
Uses research and data to inform decisions and detect new opportunities; you can apply a data-centric approach to the testing and optimization of content.
Stays on top of trends, timely events, and upcoming title launches.
An understanding and interest in the streaming entertainment and content landscape.
Knowledge and understanding of, and/or connection to, underrepresented communities across Canada.
Background & Specific Skills
5+ years experience in an environment with exposure to media, television broadcasting, scheduling or digital platforms.
Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years of experience with editorial, curatorial or content scheduling for television or digital platforms.
Experience leading a team and running meetings.
Ability to thrive in both individual and group work.
Keen attention to detail and highly organized.
Strong planning, analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Familiarity with video production and creating high-performance assets for social media platforms.
Understanding of data tools (eg. Adobe Analytics, Comscore) and how to use learning to influence content decisions.
Experience creating and communicating presentation decks.
