Your role
The Content Marketing team in CBC/Radio-Canada Media Solutions is looking for an ambitious and dedicated Manager, Brand Activation who will lead the development and implementation of brand partnerships, branded content, custom creative production and media creativity programs to support revenue generation for CBC/Radio-Canada.
The Manager, Brand Activation will be a key leader of the Brand Activation team working to bring best-in-class custom solutions to life for CBC’s advertising partners. They will execute sponsorships, branded content executions, in-content integrations, custom commercial creative and other activations across CBC assets (TV, digital, audio, experiential and social media), while also acting as the lead expert of project management and production for Content Marketing. They will help develop industry-leading brand partnership opportunities by working with content executives, producers, legal, tech teams, and other stakeholders as necessary to build the custom campaigns.
The Manager, Brand Activation may also help Partnership Marketing and Sales teams in landing multiplatform client partnerships and ad sales revenue by participating in idea creation, sales material development and pricing of client solutions and/or production services, as needed.

Key responsibilities:
Develop value-building marketing campaigns to maximize CBC revenue opportunities through increased CBC investment/share of media dollars or increased margins.
Lead production costing of custom creative for sales packages and assists with allocation of production resources for the team.
Accountable for ensuring overall budget management of the execution costs for custom partnerships, including fiscal forecasting and accural processes.
Supervises and guides the drafting of program briefs, program charters, legal approvals, artwork sign off and program evaluations.
Ensures proper resource and revenue tracking processes are in place to manage and report on the activation business effectively.
Guides case studies and awards submissions work for brand partnerships.
Participates in the strategic customer relationship management process by providing marketing insight and creative ideas.
Demonstrates an intimate understanding of production, program rights and benefits and translates into promotions and value adding components that provide outstanding value to targeted clients.
Work collaboratively with the Content Marketing management team to identify and implement both process and product improvements related to the execution of custom advertising campaigns.
Plan and supervise, on a daily basis, the rollout of multiplatform advertising campaigns sold by the sales team (TV, digital, event, audio, integration), in line with needs and established objectives.
Ensure that the assignment and deliverables are clearly understood during the kick-off meeting.
Develop the project’s overall timeline.
TV production: Brief, with the client consultant, the commercial production and creative teams (design, writing, etc.); manage and guide clients through the production and post-production stages leading up to final broadcast; and obtain internal and external approvals (Programming, Schedule and Broadcasting, Advertising Standards, ASC and Telecaster).
Coordinate the production of on-air messaging visibility components (logos, snipes, creative countdowns, lower thirds, etc.).
Digital, audio & social content production: Manage the production process, including the briefing, production submissions, content development and copywriting for all activations, approvals with clients and the various in-house departments, quality control, and campaign delivery.
Manage and supervise the production of visibility components on other platforms: print, events, field sponsorship activations, in-store advertising, etc.
Manage contests: Write copy for the various activations (website, banners, skinning, social networks); draft contest rules; obtain legal approvals; research, negotiate and manage prizes; contact and follow up with winners and suppliers.
Develop traffic instructions.
Attend brainstorming sessions.

Throughout campaign execution, understand and meet business needs, provide strategic advice, and establish and maintain client trust.
Effectively respond to the various requests and suggest creative solutions tailored to the needs and circumstances of the assignment.
Devise solutions to problems that arise during campaigns.

Supervise custom partnership projects and ensure high quality output for both the brand and content teams.
Develop briefings, and follow up with clients and programming (or producers) to ensure that integrations and product placements are done correctly and achieve client goals.
Ensures all projects are conceived and executed to be consistent and to promote the established program brand.
Support Senior Manager, Content Marketing in ensuring custom content to ensure quality of content produced in campaigns meets CBC/Radio-Canada standards.

Maximize project quality and return on investment, ensuring optimal resource use and effective invoicing.

Assist with the evaluation process to gauge the performance of implemented solutions and identify optimization opportunities.
Develop and present post-mortems and provide clients with campaign performance reports.
Help lead the pricing, process and presentation of client renewals.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

University degree in marketing communications or the equivalent.
Minimum 5 years experience building multiplatform content and/or marketing campaigns.
Advanced knowledge of content or commercial production processes.
Experience devising campaigns for a multitude of platforms and channels (television, digital, social media, audio).
An innovative problem-solver — knack for identifying priorities and creative solutions.
Exceptional leadership thinking – ability to motivate, coach, and support a team.
Advanced project management skills with a keen ability to align multiple stakeholders on complex projects.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously – advanced organizational and time-management skills.

Experience managing large budgets effectively.
Passion for the media and marketing industries and knowledge of CBC properties.
Comfort with Microsoft Office and Google suite, particularly PowerPoint and/or Google slides.
Excellent communication skills and relationship-building ease, ideally with experience in client service.
English/French bilingualism is an asset.
Flexibility. Some travel and evening/weekend work may be required for execution of client partnerships.
Grace under pressure – ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
