Intern – Risk and Compliance

Reporting to the Senior Director, Risk & Compliance, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Risk & Compliance team in execution of the Company’s annual audit of internal control over financial reporting as part of its National Instrument 52-109 certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Conduct audit testing on low risk areas with supervision, for the evaluation of design and operating effectiveness of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting and identify reportable issues
·Ensure working papers are adequately documented and audit evidence is sufficient
·Determine compliance with policies and procedures
·Assist with updating documentation of key business processes and internal controls over financial reporting as required
·Perform other duties in the R&C department as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
·University student working towards an undergraduate degree
·Solid accounting knowledge – having completed a basic level accounting course would be desirable
·Basic understanding of auditing principles would be desirable
·Strong documentation skills
·Strong analytical skills and detailed-oriented
·Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written/verbal) required
·Strong computer skills are required (e.g. Microsoft office – excel, word, PowerPoint)
·Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work
·Ability to work independently
·A positive attitude
