The Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) is Canada’s window on Parliament, politics, and public affairs. As Canada’s only national, bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics, we are unique in the Canadian media landscape. We are seeking a dynamic graphic designer to create and implement world class graphic design elements for live and pre-packaged shows and to provide art direction and graphics for special projects.
CPAC is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our programming team. Based in Ottawa just steps from Parliament Hill, this is a great opportunity for a graphic designer who welcomes new challenges and thrives in a creative and fast-paced environment. The chosen individual will possess strong creative talents and a sound knowledge of Chyron Lyric. Bilingualism is an asset.
•Creates compelling and comprehensive visual elements for broadcast & digital assets, and other promotional materials including print.
•Works with CPAC’s programming/editorial team to design and create dynamic graphics for CPAC’s shows including but not limited to:
o creation of all full quarter frame graphics
o creation of special boards and charts as required for CPAC productions
o creation of graphics for live productions
o creation of graphics specific to special programs, segments and election coverage.
•Develop and create prepackaged elements and templates with on-air CG system.
•Work with CPAC’s Technical department in the creation, delivery, and integration of graphics, including the development of automation templates.
•Work with CPAC’s Communication department to develop and deliver graphics for print items, online products, signage, and video displays, as required.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills and experience required)
•Degree or diploma in graphic design or visual arts.
•Five years’ experience in graphic design, specifically for television.
•Possesses an excellent visual sense of composition.
•Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design in a variety of media.
•Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, and Chyron Lyric.
•Familiarity with video editing platforms.
•Ability to plan, prioritize and organize workflow, at times working under tight deadlines.
•Must be independent, self-motivated and self-sufficient.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – develops and maintains positive work relationships with co-workers, supervisors and talent.
•Ability to work flexible hours, as required.
•Preference may be given to candidates who are fully bilingual in English and French.
This is a full time, 12 month contract position, with the possibility of renewal.
