The Enterprise Architecture & Common Services organization within Technology Strategy & Business Transformation (TSBT) is a unique and passionate team with a mandate to optimize developer productivity and bring alignment across IT delivery (DevOps) teams through common standards and reuse while promoting a culture of reliability in a cloud native world. We are integral to the delivery of IT assets, with a focus on enterprise architecture, DevOps engineering standards, software engineering standards, and enterprise reusable assets within the Chief Development Office (CDO). This team has technical expertise, innovative ideas and business smarts and are passionate about delivering technology to enable exceptional and reliable customer experiences!

As Director Technology supporting Enterprise Reusable Assets, you will report to the Vice President, Enterprise Architecture and Common Services, and be part of an engaging team of thought leaders. The Enterprise Reusable Assets team is a newly established team to promote and curate a culture of reusability, with a focus on “write once, use many” services that are utilized by multiple applications across the enterprise. We are on a journey to progress our IT Operating Model, and this team will continue to grow and evolve as we consider other teams that fit this mandate to join our organization. We are in need of an experienced leader to be at the forefront and lead this team.
Your mandate is to partner and provide remarkable services to our delivery teams and business partners by setting the vision, developing the strategy, defining the appropriate roadmap, and establishing the optimum structure to drive a culture of reuse and accountability.

You will accomplish this by leveraging your strong technical and leadership abilities to guide a team of 20 team members to design and administer resilient solutions, and drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, and internal partner and team member satisfaction. This team will continue to grow in size.

You will provide guidance, monitor emerging technologies, and ensure all systems are aligned with TELUS standards while supporting the development of reusable platforms and services across product teams. You will engage with the DevOps teams to understand changing imperatives and mitigate any challenges. In addition you will be collaborating with and influencing a diverse group of senior leaders to determine the business imperatives, prioritization of products, and timelines. It is serious, challenging and rewarding work but instrumental in keeping our organization at the forefront of progressing our Customer First priorities while continuing to drive innovation.

Develop, engage, socialize, and gain approval on business cases and strategies
Create and deliver presentations to executive leadership team on key strategic opportunities and initiatives
Manage technology and application road maps and prioritize backlogs to support focus on reliability and digital strategy
Champion and lead the adoption and maturation of agile and DevOps practices

Experience in full development lifecycle and solid understanding of DevOps and Cloud native principles
Working experience with Agile methodologies
Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, or equivalent education and/or experience
Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in a management position
Familiarity with industry leading and open source software for development and operations
Experience with building and supporting cloud native (public/private) applications and services
Knowledge of web security issues and technologies for authentication, encryption, and authorization
Understanding of web-based application architectures and knowledge of several e-business technologies including application servers, portal technologies, web services, middleware, systems infrastructure
Lean Six Sigma certification or experience
