Your role

The successful candidate will lead a division within Technology and Infrastructure – Distribution and Operations, whose primary responsibility is to oversee the operations and support of the Digital Products Support Team and the Data Centre Support Teams. These teams are located in both Montreal and Toronto. This support division will continue to grow as CBC/Radio-Canada develops as a digital focussed media company.

Responsible for the continued development of a sustainable support model which addresses the CBC/Radio-Canada’s growth of Digital Products, Platforms and Services as well as base digital infrastructure associated with data centre technology.
Will lead the migration from a product specific support team to a more or well rounded computer based team associated with system administration, middleware support, regional and national computer based support such as virtualized and cloud services.
Responsible for developing a strategy associated with overall support of large component entities such as storage, compute, applications and cloud activities such as migration.
Identifies and assesses technology, policy and marketplace opportunities and risks, reports on system and service performance associated with internal and external digital applications
Will own vendor relationships in both the digital hardware and software realm.
Participate in the development of the new MRC, French and English Digital Production based digital products focusing on audience facing applications and workflows.
Will work directly and acts as the Distribution and Operations liaison with other Technology and Infrastructure tech leaders in the area of Business Relations, Engineering and Information Security.
Develop a strategy associated with creating and operating a unified/integrated and disaster proof data centre and/or CER.
Develops and implements business continuity plans for all digital platform, voice and data services where required.
Translates the strategic direction set by more senior roles. Accountable for leading and delivering results within scope.
Develop the Data Centre Support Team – focussing on future needs and better partner relations – DR, Cloud, New products, Application Solutions interactions
Develop internal team leaders equipped to support an integrated digital technology set. The team is comprised of 40 individuals who reside in either Toronto or Montreal. The Director currently has 3 direct reports.
Work with Distribution and Operations leaders to continue to develop in partnership, the regional support initiatives.

University degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of three years’ experience in a Senior Management role
Demonstrates sound knowledge of other parts of the business
Demonstrated ability to act as an innovator and change agent
Creative problem solver who is skilled in evaluating numerous factors, both internal and external to scope, is determining the most appropriate course of action
Strategic and influential decision maker. Unafraid of seeking new solutions which may set precedent but which align with key factors such as future market directions and organisational goals
Successful track record in delivering multiple major initiatives in a deadline-oriented environment
Expertise in the integration of technical, conceptual, and organisational knowledge applied to a wide range of situations across an organisation
Superior interpersonal skills and ability to quickly establish productive working relationships across the organisation
Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide and/or receive complex information quickly and efficiently
Demonstrated ability to provide and/or receive very complex information with frequent contact
Excels at promoting a positive environment through the identification and communication of key employee development initiatives
Must be willing to travel as required.
