About the Role
Reporting to the marketing manager, you will be responsible for community marketing and promotion, sponsorships, sales promotions, contests, and events for Global Calgary and Global Lethbridge TV, and 770 CHQR radio. You will be responsible for promoting the stations in a positive way while working with community and non-profit groups, the marketing team, news department, sales, external media, and the creative department.

Community/sales sponsorships and promotions
Coordinate all community sponsorships including writing partnership proposals, presenting and fulfilling sponsorship commitments, meetings with community groups, negotiating signage and on-site promotional opportunities, and working with non-profit charity groups on editorial opportunities to present to the news department.
Coordinate and respond to community requests for on-air personality appearances and requests for donation items.
Support revenue-driven sales promotions including writing proposals/campaigns and executing advertiser on-air and on-line contests.
Create and publish online promotional content (events and contests) and social media content
Research and write weekly #OurYYC (Global Calgary’s community calendar) feature
Write and build weekly radio e-newsletter
Manage TV and radio promotions and contests including on-air and social media graphics, communication, and execution
Work closely with creative department artists and producers to create promotional scripts, logos, graphics and video
Review and approve TV and radio logos on community partner promotional materials
Assist with news image promotions and marketing campaigns as required
Set up, coordinate logistics, and attend approved events and represent Global News in a professional, friendly and inclusive manner (evenings and weekends as required)
Sit on committees and participate in media events
Lead community outreach campaigns and events, including Global News Weather School, Morning/Month of Giving, and other signature events
Lead station tours
Coordinate radio remotes and special TV and radio broadcasts such as Stampeders broadcasts, listener events, road shows, etc.
Coordinate internal station events and activities
Supervise radio street team on location
Event set up and tear down (physical ability is required to lift and carry promotional gear weighing up to 50lbs)
Administrative responsibilities
Maintain promotional and social media calendars for Global Calgary, Global Lethbridge and 770 CHQR
Oversee promotional inventory and book TV and radio promotional spots, on-air contesting, interviews, and other promotional assets
Coordinate the purchase, inventory and distribution of promotional merchandise
Coordinate the purchase, inventory and upkeep of station signage
Prepare quarterly internal charitable reports and community fiscal overview
Work with legal department to build contest rules and regulations
Contact and arrange prizing for contest winners
Create weekly radio street team schedule and manage timesheets
Manage scheduling and regular maintenance of promotional vehicles
About You
What We Need From You:
Degree or diploma in marketing, communications or public relations
5+ years direct experience in a marketing, communications, or promotions role
5+ years experience leading events
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, WordPress, CRM tools, and social media platforms
Media relations experience
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift/carry 40-50lbs
Flexible availability for evening and weekend events; will be required to work most weekends in the summer months

Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness
Ability to work independently and proactively
Strong customer service skills
