We are looking for a Broadband Project Lead to join our Columbia Basin Broadband corporation (CBBC) team. This position manages the implementation and operation of CBBC’s network infrastructure to meet strategic goals for Basin connectivity. If you have experience in telecommunications infrastructure and excel in an environment of rapid growth and change, we want to hear from you! This is a regular, full time position based out of any of our four offices: Castlegar, Cranbrook, Nakusp or Golden.
Reporting to the Projects and Infrastructure Manger, the successful candidate will:
•Coordinate all aspects of assigned fibre optic and/or wireless design and implementation.
•Provide direction and support to contractors and staff for planning, installation and activation.
•Work with CBBC staff and contractors to ensure service delivery and network reliability targets are met.
•Help identify opportunities for network growth, identify risks, mitigation techniques and participate in strategic planning processes.
•Contribute to completion of capital projects and budgets with time sensitive deadlines.
•Build and maintain relationships internally and externally including with Trust staff, service providers, property owners, customers, fundraising agencies, regulatory agencies, First Nations and local government.
•Contribute to the development of funding applications, proposals, complex procurement processes and make recommendations.
•Provide input on contract development, budgeting and administration.
•Provide timely and accurate updates on project statuses and manage scheduled tasks.
•Contribute to research and development in innovative techniques, bringing efficiencies and cost savings to projects.
•Support development of policies and ensure proper documentation.
•Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, along with five years of experience in telecommunications infrastructure including excellent knowledge of wireless and fibre networks as well as regulatory and permitting processes. The ideal candidate will be skilled in customer and stakeholder relationship management, have experience managing contractors, and have well developed communication skills and strong problem-solving ability. Working knowledge of construction management, procurement and contract best practices, risk management and mapping software including ability to work with GIS are desired. Project management skills and strong knowledge of budget tracking, cost estimation and cost accounting of large-scale capital plans are also key to the role, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
