Rogers is seeking a Big Data Developer to design and deployment of Big data solutions. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Big Data Innovation at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, this role will be responsible for Designing and Developing Big Data solutions.

Job Responsibilities

•Design, build and test scalable and highly available Big Data ETL, ELT, analytical, machine learning and other Big Data solutions
•Design, build and test integration interfaces between Big Data platform and external systems (API-based and other)
•Deliver scalable and reliable Big Data solutions leveraging Hortonworks HDP Hadoop platform, RDBMS, BI tools, SaaS platforms and APIs
•Support the development of data mining and machine learning applications
•Support PoC and lab technology innovation initiatives
•Work collaboratively with all levels of business and IT stakeholders to understand complex data relations and business requirements and implement and test Big Data solutions
•Train IT and business teams in the use of Big Data environment to democratize Big Data  capabilities
•Apply concepts, industry research, best practices and agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence) to implement Big Data solutions

•3+ years of production experience working and supporting cross-functional project teams – clients, developers, solutions design, production support, 3rd parties and vendors
•1+ years of production experience in Hadoop application development, installation, performance tuning, configuration, and optimization
•1+ years of production experience deploying Hadoop core components and services: HDFS, YARN, Hive, Pig, HBase, Spark, Sqoop, Falcon, Oozie, etc.
•Strong background in Business Intelligence and production experience with Data warehousing projects and programs
•Production experience and excellent understanding of Data Warehousing lifecycle principles and best practices
•Production experience and excellent understanding of Software Development Lifecycle principles and best practices
•Production experience and in-depth understanding of Hadoop Big Data ecosystem and best practices (Hortonworks is preferred)
•Experience working with virtualized and physical environments, including public and private cloud
•Experience in Telecommunication industry would be an asset
•Experience with Analytics, Predictive Modeling, Machine learning applications would be an asset
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Highly motivated and very proactive individual, dedicated to follow-up/follow through without reliance on management for direction
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field

•Hadoop 2.0 Developer, Administrator or an equivalent certification
