The Architect – Network Security candidate is responsible for creating the vision that improves the security posture across all Rogers IP Networks, Network platforms, and applications.  The successful candidate will leverage their industry knowledge and operational experience to develop network strategies to protect Rogers’ customers and infrastructure. 

This position requires strong presentation and communication skills as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with many teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, establish, and manage the architectural direction for Network Security for the Rogers IP and Access Networks.
  • Analyze and produce clearly articulated architectural roadmaps and evolution for the platforms and technologies associated with Network Security in the IP and Access networks
  • Conduct requirement analysis for new and modified services, mapping the requirements into a set of technologies and architecture solutions with the necessary and appropriate scalability, performance, fault tolerance, cost optimization, and operational manageability
  • Develop Architecture Analysis documents, articulating the technology options, recommendations and rationale, constraints, high-level schedule, resource requirements, and cost/budget requirements
  • Provide technical and architectural guidance within the Network organization for Network Security of the IP and Access Network technologies
  • Provide input to IT, ensuring Network/IT Interlock on Provisioning and Back Office interactions
  • Assist in defining and executing Network Security technology strategy/roadmap that will enable Rogers to evolve its service offerings and transform how it offers products and services to its customers
  • Identify technical requirements, specifications and create evaluation criteria for RFP, RFQ, or RFI
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry direction, technology evolution, and other ISP (MSO) practices
  • Collaborate with team members, cross-functional groups, partner companies, vendors and industry groups to develop end-to-end architecture solutions

    Qualifications:

  • A Degree in Technology or 10+ years of industry experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable addressing security challenges with creative thinking and judgement
  • Well-versed in the latest technology offering, capabilities and trends
  • Expert knowledge of Cloud, data centre and virtualization security practices
  • Understanding of various attack concepts such as DDoS, DoS, Low and slow, Botnets, Command and control, Malware, Phishing, Application manipulation, packet manipulation, and execution type vulnerabilities (e.g., buffer overflow, Rowhammer)
  • Understanding of DLP and CASBY platforms and integration challenges and concerns
  • Expert knowledge of identity management, role based access management, privileged access and methods of interoperation across disparate identify management systems
  • Understand concepts for the securing of any device connected to a network
  • Working knowledge of the PCI DSS standard, how it affects systems and network architecture
  • Ability to complete a risk assessment on system and network architectures providing guidance and mitigation where appropriate
  • Candidate should have an informed view of autonomous vehicles, smart cities and IoT. Candidate should be able to specify the technological security challenges that they foresee
  • 5G and foreseeable security challenges
  • Experience with incident response and management in a network and security environment
  • Experience managing servers, network elements (routers, switches), security elements (NGFW and all functions – IDS/IPS and WAF, VPN concentrators), services (Apache, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH), operating systems (Linux and Windows)
  • Administrative experience with Azure and AWS with a high-level understanding of the security features offered by the services
  • Expert knowledge of firewall technologies such as NGFW, IPS/IDS and WAF
  • Expert knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS (L2 and L3 VPN), overlay networks (VXLAN, GRE) and signalling protocols (SS7, Diameter)
  • Expert knowledge of IPSec, X.509, TLS and PKI
  • Understanding and/or experience supporting 3GPP Technical specifications pertaining to all aspects of 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G including Systems Architecture, Process Flows and Security
  • Understanding and/or experience supporting M2M/IOT technologies
  • Understanding and/or experience supporting DOCSIS technologies
  • Understanding and/or experience supporting IPTV technologies (CDN, STB, applications)
