OTTAWA – Independent food and lifestyle channel Gusto TV is marking its first anniversary with a smorgasbord of over 100 hours of its own original Canadian culinary content, shot in 4K.

The new shows are a mix of documentaries and TV cooking series for linear and online viewing that celebrate Canadian cuisine, sustainability, local ingredients and feature fresh Canadian talent.  They include:

One World Kitchen, a cooking series that celebrates international influences on Canadian cuisine, set to premiere in May;

–  Taste of Canada, a documentary that asks “what IS Canadian cuisine?”;

– Season 6 of The Great Canadian Food Show, a gastronomic adventure from one end of Canada to the other; and

A is for Apple, the channel’s second original series that will begin shooting this week.

Gusto TV is also producing significant original content for Gustotv.com to compete with U.S. websites that it says dominate the Canadian market.

“We’ve always believed that original content is the future of the Gusto brand. That’s why we threw ourselves whole-heartedly into production before we even marked our first anniversary,” said Gusto TV CEO and founder Chris Knight, in the news release.  “I can’t wait for our audience to watch these new food and cooking series.  They’re trendy.  They’re edgy.  They’re made for people who love food… BY people who love food.”
