TORONTO – The Canada Media Fund (CMF), in partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), will host and participate in an industry session this Saturday during the industry track of the festival dedicated to “Engaging Today’s Consumers: Building a National Brand for Film, TV, and Digital”.
CMF president and CEO Valerie Creighton will moderate a panel discussion on why now is the time to think outside the box and build a consumer-facing brand for the Canadian audiovisual industry that has the power to inspire audiences; to change the way Canadians and the world perceive Canadian content; and to shine a spotlight Canada’s creative talent, both at home and around the world. Panelists will include Jocelyn Hamilton, President – Canada, Television, eOne; Michael Kennedy, Executive Vice President Filmed Entertainment, Cineplex; Ben Mulroney, journalist and host of etalk and Your Morning; and Karine Vanasse, award-winning Canadian actress, star of Cardinal.
“Some of the most talented directors, actors, game makers, app developers, and storytellers on earth were made right here in Canada”, said Creighton. “One of the best leading actors in Hollywood was made in London, Ontario. One of the best directors was made in Montréal, Quebec. Canadians are making the finest content in the world. It’s time we take credit for it.”
The session will take place Saturday, September 8 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at CBC headquarters in Toronto, 250 Front Street West, in Conference Room B.
